Assistant Professor – Tenure Track
The School of Social Work at Southern Illinois University
Carbondale invites applications for an Assistant Professor,
nine-month continuing faculty position. The School offers CSWE-accredited
BSSW and MSW degrees. The School has a strong international
focus. The position begins Fall 2009.
Requirements: Ph.D. in Social Work
or a related discipline; MSW from a CSWE-accredited
institution and two years post-MSW practice experience.
Applicants who have completed all requirements except the
dissertation will be considered. If official evidence of
completion of the earned doctorate requirements is not
received by August 15, 2009, the position offered will be a
nine-month, term appointment at the rank of instructor at a
lower salary than that of an Assistant Professor. Potential
for successful teaching and scholarly productivity are
required. Preference: Expertise in one or more of the
following: Children, Youth, and Families; School Social Work;
or Health/Mental Health. A track record of scholarship and
facilitating student development with diverse students are
preferred.
Summer teaching may be available contingent
upon funding and student demand. Salary is commensurate with

work (i.e., samples of published articles or submitted
manuscripts), student evaluations of teaching, and three letters
